Soft Ombre Eyes and Lips

Welcome all!
I adore the concept of color graduating from light to dark or dark to light.  Even more so, the pairing of two different, but complimentary colors that create something that intrigues and magnifies in sunlight.  Ombre can go dramatic, creating its most extreme effect.  In this state, it shapes and even contorts features, creating drama.  In softer states, it is like eye candy, a feast of fun color that is fun to view and to wear.
Today, I want to pair orange, pinks, and various plums to create a soft rainbow on the eyes and lips.  I wanted something I could wear during the day.  It requires precise placement and much blending.  A variety of brushes from fine to broad are a must.  A mixing medium like MAC Fix+ can intensify colors where they need to be intense, but some shades deserve a lighter hand.  I would dub this a fun look...perfect for weekend summer wear.

Step One:  Priming the Face, Shaping the Brows

With this look, the ombre effect takes center stage, so getting the best finish on the skin is most crucial.

I adore the finish of Your Skin but Better CC+ Cream from It Cosmetics (qvc.com).  I evenly applied this with their specialty brush.  I primed my lids with Max Makeup Cherimoya Prime's Up Eye Shadow Primer in Natural and to make the colors more vibrant, I used Highlighter/Eye Shadow Base in White (colorelation.com) .  I "drew" my brows with Mn Eye Brow Pencil in Light Coffee and used the attached brush to feather the color to the desired shape.  To seal the deal, I used this wonderful Korean brow wax I purchased on Ebay.  I love the way it tints my brows a golden, hazelnut shade while keeping them in place.  Lastly, I use my Lady Burd cream foundation in Caramel Cream to outline and define the brows.

Step Two:  Ombre Eye Shadows

Orange shimmer shadow was applied over the entire eye area, above the crease and around the inner tear duct.

Light pink shimmer was applied over the outer two-thirds with a brush dampened with MAC Fix+.
Vivid hot pink is applied over the outer third and underneath the remaining lash line.  With each step, the edges between colors are blended and colors reapplied to maintain intensity and balance.  A wine colored shimmer was lastly applied over the outer third to blur lines.  A skin colored matte shadow is then liberally applied over the remainder of the eye area to create a seamless look.  Shadows used:  Sunlit, Tickled, Raspberry Jam, and Scarlet. All shadows available on colorelation.com.

Step Three:  Lining and Lashes

Music Flower Liquid Liner in a lush purple was applied in a thin line and a minimal cat eye on the top lashes.  The lower water line was darkened with Blue Heaven Kohl Kajal in black.  MAC Pearlglide pencil in Designer Purple was liberally applied as close to the lower lash line as possible for an extra shot of color.  There were no false lashes for this look!  Lancome Cils Booster was applied in two coats, allowing for drying time between coats for maximum effect.  Afeieya Volumizer Mascara has a two step system.  I used step one on the bottom lashes and step two for more drama on the top lashes.  You can find Music Flower liquid liner and Afeieya Mascara on colorelation.com.

Step Four:  Ombre Lips

Here, I needed two brushes.  One to broadly apply color and a finer one for more detailed work.  First, I defined the lips with MAC Lip Liner in Cyber World, a soft plum.

With the broad brush, I applied the lighter, coral shade of Amuse Sexy Ombre Lips in Mix 7. (colorelation.com)

With the finer brush, I applied the darker shade into the outer corners, top and bottom and even over the lip liner.  I reapplied the coral as needed until I achieved my desired effect.  Lastly, I dabbed Dior Addict Lip Gloss #13 in Etoile on the very center of the lips. It gives a glittery golden pink shine.

This look is brilliant in the sunlight, making it a great daytime look.  The colors blended subtly and I like the overall effect.  Have you tried an ombre look lately.  Please feel free to comment and share your thoughts.  I hope you enjoyed the look and thank you for taking time out of your day to visit.  Please subscribe to my blog and visit me on colorelation.com.
